Construction on the Scribner Place development in New Albany will begin in late July or early August, city officials said yesterday. The comments by John Rosenbarger, the director of the city’s redevelopment commission, and City Attorney Shane Gibson followed a federally required public hearing yesterday before $12 million to $13 million in bonds can be issued for the development.

Scribner Place’s funding discussed 
The YMCA of Southern Indiana is negotiating with half a dozen banks to complete its share of the financing for the Scribner Place complex in downtown New Albany, executive director Joe LaRocca said yesterday. He said he expects his executive board to sign off on a loan agreement by early June.
